When did you join Cazana and what is your role?

I joined Cazana on March 3, 2021 as the Junior Graphic Designer, working with the Marketing team and other business sectors that involve design. I started off working with marketing design but as the company grew, so did my experience and I began working with the Sales and Product teams. Over the past 4 months, we’ve grown so much as a company that I am now part of a large in-house design team.

Why did you decide to join Cazana?

I was recommended by my friend who worked as a Data Analyst for the company and he told me about the culture at Cazana which seemed heavily appealing. He described it as a place that although you work, it has fun moments and good vibes working alongside colleagues that you would be friends with. It seemed like a dream especially as I was looking for a junior placement at the time. Most places I interviewed for seemed very isolated and meant just sticking to yourself with little to no social interaction.

Give us a brief overview of a day in your life as the Junior Designer.

I start the day with a cup of tea and then begin looking through Notion. I review the design requests that support Sales, Marketing, Product and Data teams. I also get requests to design banners used to communicate and celebrate our achievements, birthdays, work anniversaries and welcoming new starters. I never know what my week might be like. I love the workflow and ability to have some creative freedom.

What is the Design team at Cazana like?

The Design team is a fantastic group with years of experience. I work alongside Khan, who is our Product Designer and Joe, our Senior Designer. They’re both great colleagues. They offer advice and are truly supportive of the entire team. I enjoy our football discussions and how bad our clubs do in the premier league.

What is a current or future project that you’re excited to work on?

We had enlisted Pentagram, an award winning design agency, to help us rebrand Cazana. It was a great opportunity to work alongside them and see what they envision for Cazana’s future. I supported producing rebranded ebooks, ads, gifs and presentation decks, all in the new colour palette and visuals, giving our content a fresh new look ready to be shared with our audiences.

What do you love most about working at Cazana?

The People! You always hear of people saying they’re glad work separates them from the people they work with and merely see them as colleagues. But Cazana is like seeing your team and checking in to genuinely feeling like you’re more than colleagues and robots at your workplace. In fact, they’re all fantastic professionals with all types of backgrounds and experiences.

What would you be doing if you were a billionaire and didn’t have to work?

I would love to travel and see the world in all its glory. Not anything crazy extravagant but living as a local amongst natives of countries just to have a taste of what life would be like and compare places I have visited and lived in.

What’s a fun fact about you that your colleagues don’t know?

I used to live in the Cornwall countryside during my childhood but moved to London in my early teens!

What is your favourite place in the world?

London is my favourite place. I have visited many cities and nothing comes close to the efficiency and metropolitan energy London radiates. I loved visiting as a child and now living here has been an amazing experience. But I also love travelling abroad to places that you wouldn’t normally visit and live in mountains and island countrysides.

What 3 words describe you best?

Enthusiastic, Positive, Gym are the three words that describe me.

What is your motto and why?

"What is meant for you, will reach you even if it is beneath two mountains. What isn't meant for you, won't reach you even if it is between your two lips."

In life, you go through many hardships and it’s often difficult to see that those hardships have a lesson for us to learn. It’s easy to be upset and lash out over situations we don’t like but there is a positive in what goes wrong for us. We should be patient that it will eventually pull through!

Jiyaul works closely with nearly every department in Cazana as well as Car and Classic and often under tight deadlines. Joe Lumely is Jiyaul’s Senior Designer and Team Manager. He commented on working with Jiyaul saying: “He is one of the most positive people I have worked with and always has a smile on his face. He has huge ambition to learn and improve his skills as a designer which is the perfect attitude to have as a junior. A lot has changed recently in terms of the way the design team works, from the style of the brand to the programmes we use and Jiyaul has taken it all in his stride. If he was anymore laid back, he would be horizontal.”

Also working with Jiyaul is Khan Iqbal, a Cazana Product Designer. Khan says: “Jiyaul is a joy to work with, and a great overall Junior Graphic Designer with a good eye for detail. His energy and enthusiasm towards his role is evident in his professional approach to design projects. His efforts within a productive Marketing team definitely do not go unnoticed.”
